The goal of the proposed research is to develop key enabling technologies for developing an online, real-time, and noncontact NDE system specifically tailored for metal-based 3D printing (AM: additive manufacturing) processes, so that the productivity and reliability of the 3D printing process and the quality of 3D printed parts can be improved and faulty components and defects can be reduced.
